El Dorado Hills is the first community on the El Dorado County side of the Sacramento County line, just east of Folsom along Highway 50. Valpro Attorney Services serves summonses, complaints, subpoenas, family law papers, eviction notices and other legal documents on people and businesses at El Dorado Hills homes, offices and business parks. We also file El Dorado Hills cases with the Superior Court of El Dorado County, by eFiling or at the counter.
Our office at 1520 W El Camino Ave #125, Sacramento, CA 95833, is about 25 miles straight-line from the center of El Dorado Hills, so this is close-in work for us. Start a Service Request online, or email the papers to Service@ValproAttorneyServices.com. The office line is 855-582-5776, Mon–Fri 8:30 a.m.–5 p.m.
A community without a city hall
El Dorado Hills had 50,547 residents in the 2020 Census, more than any incorporated city in El Dorado County. It still isn't a city. The Census Bureau calls it a Census-designated place: a community with a recognized name but no municipal government of its own. For El Dorado Hills that means:
- The county is the local government. County departments and the Board of Supervisors fill the role a city council would play elsewhere.
- The El Dorado Hills Community Services District runs parks and recreation programs, among other services, but it isn't a city and doesn't run a court or police department.
- There's no city to sue. A claim over a county road or county service is a claim against El Dorado County, a public entity with its own claim rules. Ask the attorney handling it before papers go out.
That could change. On May 1, 2025, the Community Services District board adopted Resolution 2025-09 to start the LAFCO process for incorporating a City of El Dorado Hills, and El Dorado LAFCO lists it as an active project as of October 2026. Incorporation would add a city government. It wouldn't move cases: the Superior Court serves the whole county, so El Dorado Hills cases would still go to the same branches.

The Cameron Park Branch is the courthouse that matters
Most El Dorado Hills litigation doesn't go to Placerville, the county seat. It goes a few miles up Highway 50 to the Cameron Park Branch, 2927 Meder Road, Cameron Park, CA 95682, about 4 miles east of the El Dorado Hills Census center point. The court lists these case types there:
- Civil
- Small claims
- Unlawful detainer
- Probate and conservatorship
- Mental health, DCSS, juvenile, traffic and infractions
- ADR and the Family Wellness Court
Departments 9 and 10 sit at Cameron Park. The building is open 8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. and the clerk's office 8:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. There's an after-hours drop box. The clerk's phone is (530) 621-5047.
That 3:30 p.m. clerk close is earlier than many filers expect, especially anyone used to a Sacramento counter. If a filing has to be in by the end of a given day, tell us the deadline on the Service Request so we can plan around eFiling instead.

Family law and restraining orders go to Placerville
Family cases from El Dorado Hills take a longer drive. They're heard at the Placerville Building C Branch, 2850 Fairlane Court, Suite 120, roughly 12 miles east of El Dorado Hills in a straight line. Building C lists:
| What it handles | Details from the court |
|---|---|
| Family law | Departments 5 and 8 |
| Restraining orders, guardianships, juvenile dependency | Same building |
| Appeals and collaborative courts | Appeals email: appeals@eldorado.courts.ca.gov |
| Family Law Facilitator | (530) 621-5098; in-person hours Tuesday and Thursday, 9:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. |
The clerk keeps the same 8:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m. hours as Cameron Park, and there's a drop box for after-hours papers. A divorce petition, a custody filing or a domestic violence restraining order request from El Dorado Hills starts here. The papers then come to us for service on the other party, at home in El Dorado Hills or wherever they work.

E-filing in El Dorado County is close to all-or-nothing
El Dorado's rule is stricter than Sacramento's. Under Local Rule 7.08.00, the court accepts only electronically filed documents in civil, family law, probate and small claims matters, and e-filing is mandatory for all represented parties and justice partners. Filings go through an approved electronic filing service provider. The court says it won't take filings by email or fax. Self-represented parties are exempt under Rule of Court 2.250(b)(10).
What that means in practice:
- A law firm's El Dorado Hills complaint goes in electronically. We can file it through a provider for you, then serve the summons once the court issues it.
- Small claims counts too. Small claims is on the court's e-filing list, which surprises people who think of it as a counter-only court.
- Other case types stay on paper. The court says it can't accept e-filings outside those four case types.
Our El Dorado County court filing page covers filing there in more detail, and Court Filings explains how we take filing work statewide. Source: eldorado.courts.ca.gov eFiling page, checked October 2026.
Papers to serve in El Dorado Hills?
Small claims help for El Dorado Hills residents
People handling their own small claims case can file at Cameron Park, or at the South Lake Tahoe Branch for Tahoe Basin matters, during office hours of 8:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m. The court's small claims page lists Departments 10 and 12 for small claims. Free help comes from the court's Family Law Facilitator/Self-Help Advisor, who also acts as the Small Claims Advisor: selfhelp@eldorado.courts.ca.gov or (530) 621-5098. The court's small claims page lists the walk-in clinic at the Main Street Branch in Placerville.
The plaintiff can't hand the claim to the defendant personally. Someone who is at least 18 and not a party has to serve it, then sign the proof of service. Our guide to who can serve papers in California covers the options, and proof of service in California explains what the form has to show.

El Dorado Hills ZIP Codes don't line up with the community
Two Census ZIP Code areas cover nearly all of El Dorado Hills, and they behave very differently:
- 95762 is almost all El Dorado Hills. About 96% of its land is inside the El Dorado Hills CDP, and the rest is unincorporated county land.
- 95682 is a large rural ZIP Code area of about 90 square miles. Only about 8% of its land is in El Dorado Hills. About 10% is in Cameron Park, about 9% in Shingle Springs, and about three quarters is outside any named place.
So a 95682 address could be a subdivision home in El Dorado Hills or a long driveway off a county road near Shingle Springs. The street address decides it, not the ZIP Code. Every one of them is still an El Dorado County address, heard by the same court.
For the outer, rural parts of 95682, remote areas are subject to different timelines. Most El Dorado Hills addresses are suburban and routine. If yours is a ranch parcel or a home at the end of a private road, say so on the request.

What helps at an El Dorado Hills address
The Letter of Instruction on your Service Request is where an extra attempt gets saved. For El Dorado Hills, the details that matter most are:
- Gate and access notes. If the home is behind a gate, give us the gate code, the guard station instructions, or the name of someone who can let us in.
- The work address. If the person works west of the line, in Folsom, Rancho Cordova or Sacramento, that workplace is a strong second address. Serving there doesn't change which court has the case.
- Business park suite numbers. For a company, give the building and suite, and the name of the agent for service of process from the California Secretary of State's bizfile Online.
- Timing. Tell us when the person usually leaves and gets home, and any days they're away.
When the party to serve is a corporation or LLC, the agent on file with the Secretary of State is often a registered agent company in another city. We serve wherever that agent is. See serving a corporation in California, plus our notes on CSC Lawyers Incorporating Service and CT Corporation.

Across the county line and nearby
Folsom, about 5 miles west, is in Sacramento County, where cases go to Sacramento Superior Court instead. North of Folsom Lake, Granite Bay is in Placer County, a third court. Orangevale and Fair Oaks are Sacramento County communities to the west. Up the hill, Placerville is the county seat. Every El Dorado County community we serve is on our El Dorado County page.
