The address
CT Corporation, part of Wolters Kluwer, lists its service of process offices by state. The California entry:
C T Corporation System 330 North Brand Blvd., Suite 700 Glendale, CA 91203

That's where CT receives papers in California. What counts for your case is the agent on your defendant's own Secretary of State record, so search the company on bizfile Online before you send the papers out.
Name the company, not CT
CT's guidance is direct about this. Its role is to receive papers and forward them to the company that appointed it, which is CT's customer. The summons and complaint, a garnishment order or a subpoena should name that customer as the defendant, garnishee or respondent. Address the documents to the customer care of CT Corporation at the service of process location, not to CT Corporation itself.
For subpoenas, CT adds a warning: it isn't the custodian of records for the companies it represents. A records subpoena should command the company to produce its records, care of CT Corporation, and shouldn't command CT to produce anything.
Hours and delivery
- Hours. CT's FAQ says service of process hours are generally 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. local time, Monday through Friday, except holidays. Plan Glendale deliveries inside that window.
- Delivery methods CT lists. Hand delivery, certified or regular mail, or a parcel carrier, where state law allows. Email and fax aren't accepted.
- No phone confirmation. CT's FAQ says the individual offices don't take incoming calls, it can't give status updates and it can't provide evidence of receipt.

What California law requires
CT accepting a delivery and California counting it as service are two different questions. For a California corporation, Corporations Code § 1701(b) treats hand delivery as valid service when the papers go to someone listed in CT's most recent § 1505 certificate, at CT's office. Corporations Code § 2110 covers foreign corporations the same way, and § 17701.16(b) covers LLCs.
Mail is narrower. California treats a mailed summons as served only through CCP § 415.30, and only when a person with authority signs the acknowledgment form for the company and sends it back. If it doesn't come back, you still need personal delivery. That's why hand delivery in Glendale is the direct route for a summons.
We checked these sections in October 2026 in the Legislature's code text. General information only, not legal advice.
The proof of service
Because CT won't confirm receipt, the proof of service is the only record you'll have. Make sure it shows:
- Your defendant as the party served, with its exact name from bizfile.
- The person who accepted at CT and their title or capacity.
- The entity basis, such as CCP § 416.10 for a corporation.
- The date, time and address of delivery: 330 North Brand Blvd., Suite 700, Glendale.
From January 1, 2027, a proof of personal service also needs a photo of each attempt with an automatic date, time and GPS stamp. For an office like CT's, one photo from each attempt has to show the suite door, or the office entrance when the door can't reasonably be reached (CCP § 417.10(a)(1)–(2), operative January 1, 2027). See the proof of service guide and how AB 747 changes service in 2027.
Several defendants, one agent
Related companies can share the same agent. Each defendant is its own party: give us a separate summons and complaint for each, and expect a separate proof of service for each. Tell us in the Letter of Instruction which defendants are being served at CT.
If CT is no longer the agent
If bizfile shows a different agent, or none, follow the company's current record. When neither an agent nor an officer can be reached with reasonable diligence, the fallback is a court order for service at the Secretary of State in Sacramento, explained in how to serve a corporation in California.
