Jurupa Valley became a city on July 1, 2011, and the court paperwork still shows it. The Riverside Superior Court's filing orders sort cases by ZIP Code, and for this city they use older labels: 92509 appears under "Riverside," and 91752 under "Mira Loma, Eastvale, Jurupa Valley." Once you know which row to read, the routing is simple.
We serve papers at homes and businesses anywhere in the city, and we can file the case papers at either courthouse too.
A new city on old court lists
The city's own About Us page says Jurupa Valley was incorporated on July 1, 2011, as the 482nd city in California and the 28th in Riverside County. The court's orders were written around ZIP Codes, and those didn't change when the city did.
The Census Bureau's 2020 ZIP Code area files show how the two Jurupa Valley ZIP Codes split:
| ZIP Code | Land area | Inside Jurupa Valley | Other places in the ZIP |
|---|---|---|---|
| 92509 | 30.7 sq mi | about 99% | a sliver of the City of Riverside; about 0.18 sq mi lies in San Bernardino County |
| 91752 | 15.1 sq mi | about 80% | Eastvale about 17%, Norco about 2% |
Two things follow for anyone filing or serving here:
- A 92509 address is a Jurupa Valley address almost every time, even though the court files it under Riverside.
- A 91752 address could be in either Jurupa Valley or Eastvale. The court treats both the same, but a server needs the right city to find the door. Put the city name, not only "Mira Loma," in the Letter of Instruction.
The 0.18 square miles of 92509 in San Bernardino County is small, but it exists. If an address sits right at the county line, confirm the county before you file, because it decides which superior court has the case.
Which courthouse takes a Jurupa Valley case?
The answer depends on the case type. Under the civil order effective August 1, 2026, the family law order effective July 8, 2024 and the probate order effective December 23, 2024, both city ZIP Codes route the same way. Straight-line distances run from the city's Census center point.
| Case type | Courthouse | Address | Distance |
|---|---|---|---|
| Unlimited civil | Riverside Historic Courthouse | 4050 Main Street, Riverside | 5.5 mi |
| Limited civil | Corona Courthouse | 505 S. Buena Vista, Room 201, Corona | 10.7 mi |
| Evictions, any amount | Corona Courthouse | 505 S. Buena Vista, Room 201 | 10.7 mi |
| Small claims | Corona Courthouse | 505 S. Buena Vista, Room 201 | 10.7 mi |
| Civil harassment and workplace violence petitions | Corona Courthouse | 505 S. Buena Vista, Room 201 | 10.7 mi |
| Name and gender change petitions | Corona Courthouse | 505 S. Buena Vista, Room 201 | 10.7 mi |
| Family law, adoptions | Riverside Family Law | 4175 Main Street, Riverside | 5.5 mi |
| Probate | Riverside Historic Courthouse, Probate Division | 4050 Main Street, Riverside | 5.5 mi |
| Complex, class action and CEQA cases | Riverside Historic Courthouse | 4050 Main Street | 5.5 mi |
Section (h) of the civil order adds a few smaller filings that also go to Corona from both ZIP Codes: applications to examine a judgment debtor, petitions about dangerous dogs, structured settlement transfers and emancipation of a minor.
So downtown Riverside is the closer building, yet the everyday landlord and small-dollar cases go 10.7 miles southwest to Corona. Our Riverside County court filings service can take the papers to either one.
Jurupa Valley evictions in Corona
Section (e) of the civil order sends all unlawful detainer actions from 91752 and 92509 to the Corona Courthouse, "including those where the amount in dispute makes the case unlimited." A landlord with a large rent claim doesn't switch to downtown Riverside the way an ordinary unlimited lawsuit would.
The court's reference guide shows how Corona cases are numbered. Prefix COC covers civil, unlawful detainer and civil harassment cases, and COS covers small claims. Corona hearings are listed in Departments C1 and C2.
Once a tenant is served, the answer clock depends on the method. The California Courts self-help guide gives 10 court days after the papers are handed over, a count that skips Saturdays, Sundays and court holidays. It also counts papers left near a person who refuses them as handed over. After substituted service or posting, the tenant has 10 calendar days plus 10 court days, counted from the day after mailing. This is general information, not legal advice.
Watch the docket timing too. The court's records page says eviction cases stay confidential for their first 60 days, so a new Corona case may not show up in a name search. Parties who can supply a plaintiff's name, a defendant's name and the property address can still get access.
Small claims: the 92505 trap next door
Read section (g) of the civil order line by line. For small claims, the Corona row lists Riverside ZIP Codes 92503, 92504 and 92509. ZIP Code 92505 is missing from that row and appears instead under the Moreno Valley Courthouse, even though 92505 limited civil cases and evictions go to Corona.
For a Jurupa Valley defendant in 92509 or 91752, small claims stays simple: Corona. The trap catches a plaintiff with several defendants across western Riverside, where one 92505 address can send that claim to a different courthouse.
Service timing for small claims comes from CCP § 116.340:
- 15 days before the hearing, at least, when the defendant lives in the county where the case is filed.
- 20 days before the hearing when the defendant lives outside that county.
- 5 days before the hearing for filing the proof of service.
The same statute lets a small claims plaintiff use substituted service without first trying personal delivery. That rule is specific to small claims and differs from a regular civil summons. The papers have to be served inside California, with narrow exceptions for out-of-state property owners and drivers.
A party who wants to appear by Zoom at a Corona small claims hearing without testimony can do so. The court's remote appearances page says the notice goes to the other side at least 2 business days before the hearing, and form RA-010 gets filed as proof.
Papers to serve in Jurupa Valley?
Probate for a Jurupa Valley estate
The probate order sends every Probate Code matter from 91752 and 92509 to the Probate Division of the Riverside Historic Courthouse, phone (951) 777-3147. That includes guardianships, conservatorships, trust petitions and petitions to approve a minor's compromise. Mental health proceedings from any ZIP Code are filed in the same building. Elder or dependent adult abuse restraining orders and CARE Act petitions may be filed at any Riverside County courthouse.
Many probate hearings can be attended by Zoom. Local Rule 7010 treats a probate hearing as non-evidentiary when no one objects to the petition on the hearing date and the probate notes show no deficiencies or questions. Parties notify each other informally, by phone, email or text, and the court doesn't need advance notice.
Some probate hearings must be in person. The court's page lists elder abuse restraining orders, temporary conservatorships, temporary guardianships and reports of sale, among others, as evidentiary hearings where remote appearance isn't permitted. If an objector or a proposed conservatee lives in Jurupa Valley, serve the notice early enough to leave room for an in-person date.
The online index lists almost all probate cases from July 1994 forward.
Family law at 4175 Main Street
Divorce, custody, support and parentage cases from both ZIP Codes are filed at Riverside Family Law. The order names the place as Mira Loma (91752) and lists 92509 among the Riverside ZIP Codes, so don't expect "Jurupa Valley" to appear on it. The family law cases in the online index start in April 1992.
A party can't serve their own family law petition. Another adult who isn't in the case delivers it, and the server signs form FL-115. When you send the request, tell us about children at the home, any restraining order, and the respondent's work schedule. Our proof of service guide shows which form goes with which papers.
Across the line in San Bernardino County
Fontana is about 7.4 miles from Jurupa Valley and Ontario about 8.2. Many cases involve people on both sides of the county line, and we serve at addresses in either county.
The San Bernardino court's Where Can I File page has a detail worth knowing. It lists "Portions of Jurupa Valley (Riverside)" among the areas its Fontana District takes civil harassment, gun violence, postsecondary school and workplace violence petitions from. Whether a petition belongs in San Bernardino or Riverside is a venue question for your attorney. We serve the papers once you know where the case is filed.
Serving the City of Jurupa Valley
City Hall is at 8930 Limonite Avenue, Jurupa Valley, CA 92509. The city lists office hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, with the public counter open 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., and it is closed weekends and holidays.
Under CCP § 416.50, a city is served by delivering the summons and complaint to its clerk, secretary, president, presiding officer or another head of its governing body. Name the officer you want served in the Letter of Instruction, and aim the attempt inside counter hours.
Pulling a Corona or Riverside court file
The court's records page lists Corona civil cases online from March 1994 and Corona small claims from November 1994. Riverside civil cases go back to October 1991. A name search costs $1 for one name if you run it yourself, $3.50 for five or $5 for ten. The court charges $15 per name to search for you, and that search returns case numbers, not copies.
Copies of documents cost $1 a page for the first 5 pages and 50 cents for each page after that, with a cap of $50 per document. Certified copies come from the courthouse that holds the case. For older files or certified copies you need fast, see document retrieval.
What to send for a Jurupa Valley address
A short Letter of Instruction saves a wasted trip:
- The city name with the ZIP Code. Especially for 91752, say Jurupa Valley or Eastvale.
- Where the person can be found. Home, workplace, and the hours they're usually at each.
- A description. Gate codes, unit numbers, the vehicle usually parked there.
- Deadlines. The hearing date, and for small claims, whether the defendant lives in Riverside County.
- A second address if you have one, such as a relative nearby or an employer.
If the address turns out to be old, our skip tracing service looks for a current one. The post on how to find a defendant in California covers what to try first. Jurupa Valley is about 390 miles from our Sacramento office in a straight line, and you can get the updates by email.
