When you need a process server in Dublin, Valpro Attorney Services serves summonses, complaints, subpoenas, family law papers, small claims and eviction papers on people and companies throughout the city. Dublin had 72,589 residents at the 2020 Census. It sits at the north edge of Alameda County, with Contra Costa County directly to the north.
Our office is in Sacramento, about 65.7 miles from Dublin, and we have no Dublin location. Papers come to us online, and the updates come to you by email.
What the Dublin courthouse is for
Dublin does have a courthouse: the East County Hall of Justice, 5151 Gleason Drive. The court's page for it lists two kinds of cases, criminal and traffic, heard in Departments 701 to 713. Jury services run there as well.
There is no civil, family, small claims or eviction counter in the building. A Dublin landlord, a Dublin spouse filing for divorce and a Dublin business suing a customer all file somewhere else.
The building's own hours are short. The court lists it as open 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on weekdays. The criminal clerk is in person until 3:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday and until 2:00 p.m. Friday. The traffic clerk opens earlier, at 8:00 a.m., and closes at the same times. Jury service keeps its own in-person and phone hours, 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Parking is free in the lot next door, and the court says Livermore Amador Valley Transit Authority buses connect it to the Dublin/Pleasanton BART station.
Where Dublin cases are actually filed
| Dublin matter | Filed at | Heard at |
|---|---|---|
| Civil lawsuit | Hayward Hall of Justice or René C. Davidson Courthouse, Oakland, or e-file | The assigned department |
| Unlawful detainer | Either civil location, or e-file | Dept. 511, Hayward |
| Small claims | Hayward, Oakland or online | In person, Hayward |
| Family law | Hayward only (DVPA papers also accepted at Davidson) | Hayward |
| Probate | Berkeley Courthouse clerk's office only | Berkeley |
| Criminal and traffic | East County Hall of Justice, Dublin | Depts. 701–713, Dublin |
From the Alameda County Superior Court's location and division pages, reviewed October 2026.
From central Dublin, Hayward is about 11.6 miles away in a straight line. Oakland's Fallon Street courthouse is about 20.9 miles, and the Berkeley probate counter about 23.2. For most Dublin filers, Hayward is the one that matters.
Getting a Dublin filing to Hayward on time
The Hayward clerk windows for civil and family law are open Monday through Thursday until 3:00 p.m. and Friday until 2:00 p.m. A drop box takes papers after that, to 4:00 p.m. A same-day paper filing from Dublin has to leave the Tri-Valley with time to spare.
E-filing removes the drive for anyone who can use it. Attorneys file through an approved e-filing service provider, and the court posts copies through the provider or its eCourt Public Portal. The court's e-filing page warns of a monthly maintenance outage that starts after midnight on the fourth Friday and lasts until noon Saturday.
We can e-file, take papers to the Hayward counter or use the drop box, and return the conformed copies to you. Our Alameda County court filings page explains what we need, and our post on same-day court filing covers tight deadlines.
Dublin rentals and evictions
A Dublin unlawful detainer starts with a complaint filed in Hayward or Oakland, or e-filed, and lands in Department 511 at the Hayward Hall of Justice. That department hears evictions for the whole county, so a Dublin case shares its calendar with Oakland, Fremont and everywhere between. If a tenant asks the court to pause a lockout, the application for a stay of eviction goes to either civil location, and the court decides it on the papers without a hearing.
What we need from a Dublin landlord or property manager:
- The notice, the summons and complaint, and any prior proof of service, as PDFs.
- Every adult occupant by name, matching the notice.
- The complex name, building and unit, and how the server gets past the gate or lobby.
- Whether you want us to file the complaint too.
Our proof of service guide covers what the server's proof needs to show.
Papers to serve in Dublin?
Dublin estates and conservatorships
Probate isn't handled anywhere in the Tri-Valley. The court's probate page says probate documents may be filed only at the clerk's office in the Berkeley Courthouse, and no later than two court days before the hearing. That's about 23 miles from central Dublin in a straight line. Conservatorships and guardianships are heard there too, in Departments 201 and 202. If an heir or a proposed conservatee in Dublin has to be served, send their details with the filing.
The county line at Dublin's north edge
Dublin's northern neighbors, San Ramon and Danville, are in Contra Costa County. That county runs a separate court with its own rules. Its where-to-file page sends every civil case to the Wakefield Taylor Courthouse in Martinez, about 24.6 miles from central Dublin, and lists San Ramon's ZIP Codes, 94582 and 94583, under that courthouse for small claims and evictions.
The Census helps here. Its 2020 relationship files place the whole 94568 ZIP Code area in Alameda County, and both San Ramon ZIP Code areas wholly in Contra Costa County. In this corner of the Tri-Valley, the ZIP Code on an address is a fair clue to the county.
A clue isn't a venue decision, though. Which court a case belongs in depends on the case, and that's a question for you or your attorney. What we can do is serve on both sides of the line. See our San Ramon page and the Contra Costa County page.
One ZIP Code area for the whole city
Dublin is simple on paper. The Census matches a single ZIP Code area, 94568, to the city, and every acre of Dublin city falls inside it. About 92% of the 94568 area's land is Dublin, a sliver is in Pleasanton, and about 7% sits outside any city or Census-designated place.
That last 7% is unincorporated Alameda County. An address there can read "Dublin, CA 94568" and still be outside city limits. It doesn't change the court, which is the same county court either way. It can change which agency someone deals with for a city matter, so copy the address exactly as written on the papers.
BART station addresses
Dublin has two BART stations, and their addresses can confuse a Letter of Instruction:
- Dublin/Pleasanton, at the east end of the line, has a Pleasanton address: 5801 Owens Drive, Pleasanton 94588. BART says it straddles the Dublin–Pleasanton border on Interstate 580.
- West Dublin/Pleasanton has a Dublin address: 6501 Golden Gate Drive, Dublin 94568. BART notes it's near the Stoneridge Shopping Center.
If you know the person parks at one of these stations, or works near one, say which. It helps the server pick the right time and place for a second attempt.
Serving at a Dublin office or apartment complex
Dublin addresses often mean a large complex or an office building. A few details make the difference between one attempt and three:
- The building and suite or unit number, and the name on the directory if it's different.
- How to get in: a call box, a lobby desk, a gate code.
- Work hours, if the person commutes.
- A photo, or a description and a vehicle.
For a company, find the agent for service of process on the California Secretary of State's bizfile Online and send us that name and address. A receptionist usually can't accept for the business, and many companies name a commercial registered agent outside Dublin. Our serving corporations page explains each route.
