Anderson is a small Shasta County city on the south side of the Redding area. It had 11,323 residents in the 2020 Census, and the Census Bureau's estimate for July 1, 2025 is 11,131. Valpro Attorney Services serves eviction papers, summonses, small claims, family law papers, subpoenas and post-judgment orders at Anderson addresses, and files Anderson cases at the Shasta County Superior Court.
We take that work from our office at 1520 W El Camino Ave #125, Sacramento, CA 95833. Start with a Service Request, or call 855-582-5776, Mon–Fri 8:30 a.m.–5 p.m.
Anderson's court is 9 miles north, in Redding
There's no courthouse in Anderson. The Superior Court of California, County of Shasta, lists a single location: the Redding Main Courthouse, 1515 Court Street, with Departments 21 through 64 and the jury assembly room. Each division page we checked gives that same address. From central Anderson it's about 9 miles straight-line.
A few counter details apply to every Anderson filing:
- Hours. The civil, eviction, small claims and family law clerk's offices list 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
- Phone and fax. The divisions share (530) 245-6789 and a fax line, (530) 605-2802.
- No direct fax filing. The civil page says the court doesn't accept faxed filings directly. A fax filing agency can submit them under Local Rule 5.14.
- Tentative rulings. Posted outside the department on the hearing day, and on the court's website at least 12 hours before the hearing.

About 134 miles from our office: why timing gets confirmed
Anderson is about 134 miles straight-line from our Sacramento office. That's closer than Redding or Shasta Lake, but it's still well outside the Sacramento area, and our turnaround wording applies here as written: remote areas are subject to different timelines.
So an Anderson request works best when it's planned around the date that matters:
- Lead with the deadline. A hearing date, a response date or the last day to serve goes at the top of the Letter of Instruction.
- Ask before you pick Rush. Rush is on the form, but a call to 855-582-5776 tells you what's realistic for that address first.
- Stack the addresses. Home, work and a relative's place on one request means fewer separate runs north.
- Expect a reply. For an address this far out, we come back to you with timing after the request arrives.
We make no guarantees for service. What we can do is tell you early what the distance means for your date.
One ZIP Code area that runs well past the city
Anderson is about 7 square miles of land, according to the Census Bureau, and one Census ZIP Code area, 96007, overlaps it. That ZIP Code area is far bigger than the city. The 2020 relationship file shows:
- only about 6% of 96007's land is inside Anderson's city limits
- about 14% is in Happy Valley, an unincorporated Census place
- a small piece reaches into the city of Redding
- the rest, roughly 80%, is outside any city or Census place
So a 96007 address with an Anderson mailing name may be on rural county land, on acreage or down a private road some distance from town. The court is still Shasta County's, but the attempt plan changes. Give us cross streets, a map pin, gate or access details and anything about animals on the property. ZIP Code areas are Census approximations of postal ZIP Codes.
Evictions from Anderson rentals run on a short clock
Anderson unlawful detainer cases are filed at 1515 Court Street. The court's eviction page sums up why service matters so much in these cases: the case "moves very quickly." It says the tenant has only ten days to file a written response after being served, and that a case is normally heard within 20 days after the landlord files a request to set trial. If the landlord wins, a writ of possession issues.
That pace puts the pressure at the front of the case. The summons and complaint have to be served correctly before any of those clocks start, and a faulty service can cost weeks. For an Anderson rental, send us:
- the endorsed summons and complaint, plus any attachments that must be served with them
- the unit or space number, and the building number in a complex
- the tenant names exactly as they appear on the complaint
- any notes on gates, a manager's office or who else lives there
The court also points tenants and landlords to the Department of Consumer Affairs guide "California Tenants" and to the state's self-help center. Fee waiver forms are available at the courthouse or online.
Papers to serve in Anderson?
Collecting a judgment from someone in Anderson
Winning in court doesn't pay the judgment. The Shasta civil page lists the tools a creditor uses afterward, and several of them start with papers that must be served.
Debtor's examination. The creditor files an Application and Order for Appearance and Examination with the fee. The clerk assigns a hearing date and returns the order to the creditor to serve on the person to be examined. The court notes that a bench warrant may issue if the debtor doesn't show.
Writ of Execution. A court order authorizing the sheriff or another officer of the law to collect a money judgment.
Abstract of Judgment. A summary of the judgment, generally recorded with the County Recorder, that acts as a lien on the debtor's property.
Memorandum of Costs After Judgment. Lets the creditor add costs of collection, such as writ fees, to the judgment.
If your debtor lives or works in Anderson, send us the issued order with the hearing date, and we'll serve it and return the proof of service. Source: shasta.courts.ca.gov civil division page, checked October 2026.
Family law papers for Anderson households
Divorce, custody, support and parentage papers from Anderson are filed with the Family Law clerk on the first floor of the Main Courthouse, open 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Family Court Services is on the third floor, open 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The division's handout list includes the Proof of Personal Service (FL-330) and its information sheet.
The petitioner can't serve their own spouse or partner. An adult who isn't a party has to deliver the papers, then sign the proof of service for filing. Our guide to who can serve papers in California explains the rule, and the proof of service guide covers the forms.
Shasta may require e-filing from January 1, 2027
Today, filing an Anderson case means paper at the counter or a fax filing agency. The court's current local rules, effective July 1, 2026, set up no civil e-filing. That may change soon.
On October 2, 2026, the court posted proposed Local Rule 2.20 for public comment. As written, it would:
- require e-filing in limited civil, unlimited civil, class action, complex civil and probate cases
- require original wills and codicils to be lodged on paper
- exempt self-represented litigants, under California Rules of Court, rule 2.253(b)(2)
- treat any document received by 11:59:59 p.m. on a court day as filed that day
The comment period closes at 5:00 p.m. on November 16, 2026, and the court plans to consider adoption in mid-November for a January 1, 2027 start. The same package proposes remote appearances, without prior approval or a fee, in civil harassment, elder abuse and domestic violence restraining order hearings. Until the court adopts them, they're proposals, so check the court's site after mid-November.
Places south of Anderson are in other counties
Anderson is near the south end of Shasta County, and a short drive south puts an address under a different court:
- Red Bluff, about 19 miles, and Corning, about 37 miles, are in Tehama County. So is the small city of Tehama, about 31 miles away.
- Orland, about 49 miles, is in Glenn County.
- Shasta Lake, about 16 miles north, is in Shasta County, so it shares the Redding courthouse.
A summons from the Shasta court can be served in any of those places, and a Tehama or Glenn summons can be served in Anderson. The court that issued the papers is where the proof of service gets filed. Distances are straight-line. Every Shasta city is listed on the Shasta County page.
